Abstract :

Mineralogical studies in Haj Elyas skarn indicate two main prograde and retrograde metamorphism stages. The prograde step has occurred in two stages as contact metamorphism and skarnification.retrograde step has divided to early and late stages. Anhydrous calcium Silicate minerals ( andradite , clinopyroxen and spinel) deposition in progressive stage show the temperature range was between 470 ° C to 550 °C. In less than 470 ° C in retrograde metamorphism anhydrous calcium Silicate minerals change to hydrous calcium Silicate minerals and finally in less than 300 ° C , hydrous and anhydrous calcium Silicates have altered to fine grain chlorite, calcite, quartz and clay minerals.
Lack of wollastonite in Haj Elias skarn show that andradite and clinopyroxen have occurred in less than 550 ° C. Mg bearing minerals such as serpentine, talc and hercinite with dolomitic limestone host show this skarn is a calcium- magnesium type.
