Abstract :
The Jooymand fluorite deposit with geographical coordinates of 58 30 to 58 45 eastern longitude and 34 15 to 34 30 northern latitude is located in 15 Km of northern west of Gonabad in south of Khorasan-e- Razavi province. Mineralogical and Chemical investigations indicate fluorite, quartz, barite and galena as the major components and illite, chlorite and feldespar as minor minerals in Jooymand deposit. On the other hand the initial ore included fluorite (CaF2) in association with quartze based on microscopic and analytical results but some other oxides are also present. The genetic nature and the source of ore solutions based on micro thermometer analyses (Th=140-150, Salinity 3.39 Wt% NaCI, density=0.94 gr/cm3) show epithermal type of ores filled the fractures of Jurassic quartz arenite wall rock. These type of fractures as path ways are the main structural controls for migration of ore-fluorite and ore-depositions. The fluorite ore of Jooymand varies in colors from green to blue-green which is correlated to various REE contents in its crystal lattic. Its physical resistance caused this type of fluorite to be much suitable for jewelry and decoration.
