Abstract :

Jajarm area has a sequence of carbonate, evaporate and detrital rocks of different ages which have been deposited in the eastern Alborz basin. In this research, Cretaceous sequence of Tange-Gazi section, district of Jajarm area was studied. This sequence is located on Lar formation continuously and no disconformity is present in it. Its upper part is covered with Neogene evaporates disconformably.
Among the most important carbonate skeletal particles in Tange Gazi section are different kinds of benthic foraminifera, green and red algae, bivalve, mollusks, echinoderma and arthropoda fragments.
The non-skeletal particles are mostly consisted of pelliods, intraclasts and ooids.
Microscopic petrography and facies analysis led to the identification of 13 facies in 4 facies belts of open marine, barrier, lagoon and tidal flats. Sedimentary model in this basin was proposed to be of homoclinal ramp carbonate platform type.
