Abstract :

Copper- bearing voicanics of studied area is located in the area of 1:100000 sheet of Qayen, east Iran tectonic zone. On the basis of petrographical studies and geochemistry of major elements, rocks consist of andsite, andesite-basalt, basalt and related pyroclastic rocks, including crystalline vitric tuff, crystalline lithic tuff etc. Amygdaloidal, porphyry (with plagiodase megacrysts) and flow textures are common. These rocks are alkaline, but affected by alteration, magma mixing and/or pollution with crustal rocks, hence changed to Sub-alkaline. Copper minerals are hosted by andesite to andesite- basalte unit. The mineral association is calcocite, digenite, covellite, bornite, chalcopyrite and Native copper, Carbonate minerals are malachite and azurite. The amount of calcocite is dominating mineral. Copper mineralization is accompanied by submarine volcanism, therefore to prospect the mineralization, specific horizons of volcanic rocks has to be explored.
