Abstract :

Espharaien Garaty dam is a dam with clay core and 57 m height. It is located over Kall velayat river upstream of Garaty village as far as 20 Km from Espharaien province, North Khorasan. For exact evaluation of engineering behavior of important projects such as dam and tunnel, awareness of engineering characteristics of construct stone mass including quality of rock mass seems necessary. Engineering classification is one of common methods for investigating quality of rock mass. By classification of construct rock mass in similar units, essential actions can be taken for their design and preservation. In this paper, based on the results obtained from discovery hole and laboratory studies, geotechnical status of construct stone mass of the dam was investigated and finally, quality of stone mass was evaluated through studyingengineering geological status of dam construct and performing DMR classification for these rock.
