Abstract :

The use of granitic rocks as a dimension and building stone is currently rising because of their generally high strength, high durability, greater range of textures and colors and their aesthetic aspect. engineering parameters such as uniaxial compress strength, point load strength and also physical properties should be consider for the natural stone used in building for assessing building stones. In this study, these properties on some samples of Mashhad granites were performed and also their using as building stone have been investigated. Slake durability test were performed in 5 cycles. Results of Slake durability test specially in 5th cycle show that these samples are convenient for using as a building stone. Results of engineering properties show that two samples have been provided the American Society for Testing and Materials, Standard specification for Granite Dimension stone.
