Abstract :

The Aghdarband area is located about 120 km southeast of Mashhad. Within this erosional window, older rocks of Paleozoic and Triassic overlayed unconformably by Jurassic rocks are exposed. This is the only place in entire eastern Kope Dagh that rocks of that age can be seen on the surface. To the north of this window, a series of strike-slip fault with dips both to the north and south were seen in the field, satellite images as well as sub surface geophysical data for the first time, and named as Madan Fault system. Motion elong this fault has caused positive Flower structure, together with folding and thrusting of strata.
