Abstract :

Underground dams are kind of the best water construction for reserving of underground flows which are suitable for arid and semi arid lands, like south khorasan province. In this study, some factors effective in selecting proper sites for constructing underground dams in South Khorasan province are investigated using regional, satellite data (image, DEM), characterization hydrologic and meteorologic analyses in related softwares as remote sensing. In order to do so, a region at the size of 32118.67 km2 in this province is studied in which 8 highly scored sites were regarded as desirable for construction of underground dam. For confirmation of the obtained results, 5 sites were randomly studied in a field research whose results were a better confirmation of the software method used in this study.
