Abstract :
The optimization of processes is one of the main concerns of engineers in various engineering activities, including mineral processing. In which, this method is applied design of experiments is one of the methods in which the most information can be obtain while the least experiments are carried out. The Manganese of South of Sabzevar having much expansion and low grade is an important case which could obtain value added if optimal process conditions e.g. Gravity, magnetic separation or flotation, are achieved. In this paper, by means of Gravity, jig and shaking table, the enrichment of low grade manganese of South of Sabzevar with primary grade 13% Mn was studied. In order to optimize the conditions of process, statistical design of experiments and proposed Taguchi method were used. The aim of the process was to achieve a more than 30% Mn so that the product could be sold in the market. In these studies, first, the effective parameters of each experiment were determined and by means of L9 Taguchi array some experiments were designed. Then the results of experiments were analyzed by DX7 software (Experiment Design). This method can reduce the impact of uncontrollable factors on the response value with using the parameter that it called signal to noise. In fact in this method, experiments can be resistant compared to factors that cause deviation result from aim value. After performing jig and shaking table experiments in this fraction, the results are as follows: 38% assay and 66% recovery for jig, and 37% assay and 59% recovery for shaking table. Model and conditions were confirmed for the optimum conditions obtained with the process of validation tests.
