Abstract :
Aghdarband erosional window located in northeast Iran. Lower Triassic deposits in this area are composed of coarse and medium grain silisiclastic, carbonate and volcaniclastic sediments. Field observation, as well as petrographic and geochemical studies shows that the lower part sandstones in this sequence are volcanogenic and may have been formed by erosion of magmatic arc in fluvial systems. Arc activities led to deposition of volcanicalastic sediments, while non volcanic activities have been developed carbonates during deposition of upper parts of this sequence. Similar conditions are reported from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan in Turan plate Subject List :
