Abstract :

Aitarnir Formation is composed of sandstone, shale, Siltstone and three layer of limestone in Mozduran section. One of the major components in all of the siliciclastic fades in this Formation is glaucony.
Based on maturation, the glauconies in Aitannr Formation can be divided into slightly evolved, evolved and highly evolved. Morphological analysis of glaucony lead to sepration of two types (allochthonous and autochthonus). Rate of maturity and frequency of glauconies increased upward in tranagressive system tract (TST) and reached to maximum in MFS. But in highstand system tract (HST) the rate of maturity and frequency of glauconies decreased upward. Glauconies that do not follow this rule can be called allochthonous. Therefore, the type of glaucony can be used in the interpretation of TST and list which is important in exploration.
