Abstract :
The "Koppe-Dagh" sedimentary basin is located in north- east of Iran. The sea level changes and their relations with Ammonite fauna in "Chaman-Bid" Formation was studied in this research.
The thickness of Chaman-Bid Formation is 235 meters in Maymay section and including marl-limestone and marl intercalations. The formation is overlying shale and sandstones beds of Kashaf-Rud Formation and is covered by dolomite-limestone beds of Mozduran Formation. The Chaman-Bid Formation shows a transgressive sequence in lower part, while as upper part could be deposited in high stand system tract. In the lower part with every TST parasequnce new ammonite genera or species distributed to the basin. In Maymey section the following genera and species have been identified; Ptychophylloceras sp., Holcophylloceras sp., Perisphinctes sp., Macrocephalites sp., Phylloceras sp., Indosphynctes sp., Hecticoceras (Lunuloceras) cf. pseudopunctatum, Hecticoceras (Putealiceras) cf. schalch, Choffatia (Grossouvria) sp. and Clliphyllocerassp.
