Abstract :
The Jurassic siliciclastic sediments are outcroped in north east of Binalood mountains and are well exposed in the Ferizie to Aman - Abad villages. The lower contact with Mashhad phyllites is faulted in this area . The upper contact is graduational with the Delichai Formation.Dominant lithofacies in these sediments are sandstone , sandyshale , siltyshale with plant fossils and conglomerates. The plant fossil , facies variation and sedimentary structures indicated that these sediments were deposited in The Fluvial and deltaic dopositional systems.Based on several genus of plant fossils , the age of these sediments are probably Aalenian - Bajocian.Lithostratigraphy and plant fossils suggsted that these siliciclastic sediments in the Binalood area can be correlated with the upper Shemshak Formation in eastorn Alborz , therefore we introduce these sedimets as equivalent of the upper Shamshak Formation in the study area.Based on the suggestion of Aghanabati (1377), these rocks may have formed during the second sedimentary cycle of the Jurassic systems.
