Abstract :

The aim of this study is to investigate the catchment and plain for flood spreading in aquifer of Safiabad at 45 km of south west of Esfarayen city. For this purpose the 1:50000 topographic map, the aerial photograph, landsat land use and geological map was used. The field study also did for this purpose. The place for flood spreading was selected according to geological data, land use, slope, source of water, problematic formation like sulfate and salted formation and distance from village. In the study area the Paleozoic to quaternary formations observed. The litho logy units in north parts of catchment compare to the south units has great effect on source of water supply. The purpose of flood spreading is to increase volume of ground water, run off controlling and improvement of environmental situation of this area.
