Abstract :

Darband’s dam is an earth-rock fill dam with inclined clay core. With 43m high from river bed and a crest length of 120m, this dam located at8 km north-eastern of Ashkhaneh city, on the Darbands River.
sub survey geological and rock mass engineering properties is necessary for design the various building in rocks.
During this study the geological formation of dam site was investigated and some samples were taken to study the mechanic and physical property of rock sample.
According to laboratory result, the rock samples have height module and average strength; physically character are high density, low porosity and low absorption, the rocks mass permeability was investigated by lugeon test. to evaluate the rock masses properties, the geological strength index(GSI), mohr-colomb and Hoek &brown were used. According this study the UCS of rock is 6.82 Mpa and an elastic module is 4.45Gpa.
