Abstract :
Shurijeh Formation (Neocomian) crops out north of Sefid-Sang, NE Fariman. Based on textures and sedimentary structures, 3 lithofacies including gravely (Gcm,Gh,Gp), sandy (Sm,Sr,Sh,St,Sp) and mudy (Fm, Fl) and 5 architectural elements 5G. GB,CH,SB,FF are recognized. According to the above data, Shurijeh Formation is deposited in fluvial environmental systems (braided river with gravely bed). Based on textural and mineralogical composition, conglomeratic (polimictic) and sandstone (litharenite, sublitharenite, subarkoze) petrofacies have been identified. Combining field and petrography data, regional geology and paleocurrent analysis, it is interpreted that source area for the Neocomian rocks been in southeastern parts of the study area. The source rocks may have been the paleotethys remnants (Premiddle Triassic) that are exposed in southeast of the region.
