Abstract :
Determination of ultimate pit limit is one the most important stages of open pit mines planning and design. Pit limit indicates shape and geometry of the mine in the final stage of mining. Having this limit, the amount of mineable ore reserve and required stripping can be defined. Jajarm bauxite mine is situated in Northern Khorasan province. This mine is divided into 12 main blocks in which the Golbini block No. 7 quantitavely and qualitatively has better conditions comparing to the other blocks.
In this paper, with the help of results of previous works including feasibility, rock mechanics and geotechnical studies, Golbini block No. 7 has been designed. Considering maximum recovery, ultimate pit limit was determined with software DATAMINE. On the basis of this study, total amount of mineable ore is 1.58 Mt with average grade for Al2O3 and SiO2, 44.10 and 13.37, respectively. Overall stripping ratio is 11.6:1.
