Abstract :
Analysis of data from the Radkan river sediments in NW Chenaran show several sedimentary discontinuity. In fluvial environments, especially the rivers that have gravely bed load, the presence of sedimentary discontinuities is a significant and investigable phenomena that depend on several major factors such as influence of tributaries, lithologic changes, geologic structures (related to geomorphology) and tectonic activity. The goal of this research is to study the effective factors on the presence of sedimentary discontinuity in Radkan River, with especial reference to entering of tributaries and lithologic changes. These factors are important, since the Radkan River is a consequent type. In this study, the effects of structural features on morphology of river and sediment yields have been studied. Interpretation of grain size variations along 25Km from Radkan River showed that lithologic changes and tributaries have major effect on the sedimentary discontinuity. These data can be used in management of drainage basin in relation to sediment erosion.
