Abstract :
Tirgan Formation (Barremian-Aptian)، is made up of carbonate rocks in the Kopet- Dagh basin. This formation mainly consists of oolitic and orbitolin limestone that conformably overlies and underlies the Shurijeh and Sarcheshmeh Formations. Since dolomites were developed in the Tirgan Formation، in this research we will try to classified dolomites base on the texture (size and fabric), and then formation processes of them will be evaluated. Studies on two section of Tirgan Formation in south of jozak and Chaman Bid area in south of Kopet-Dagh Basin indicate development of four type dolomite in Tirgan Limestone. Type 1 is in very fine to fine size (20-50micron), and in form of sub hedral to euhedral. Type 2 is in fine to medium
size (20-50 micron) and in form of subhedral to euhedral with poykilotopik texture. Type 3 in is medium size (200-250 micron), in form of euhedral and finally type 4 is euhedral and in medium to large size (200-300 micron). These dolomites have been formed based on three dolomitization models, sabkha, mixing zone and shallow burial.
