Abstract :
Aquifer vulnerability assessment is useful to development and land use decision , quality monitoring and contamination prevent of water resources . Aims of this research are assessment of groundwater intrinsic vulnerability potential of Birjand plain aquifer usinfg DRASTIC and GODS models and comparision of the DRASTIC and GODS results . the DRASTIC model uses seven hydrogeological parameters (Depth to groundwater , net recharge , aquifer media , Soil media , topography , impact of vadose zone and hydraulic counductivity ) to evaluate groundwater vulnerability . The GODS model uses four hydrogeological parameters ( Groundwater condition , Overlying strata , Depth to ground water and soil cover type ) to evaluate ground water vulnerability . The aquifer vulnerability of the Birjand plain in the both methods is catyegorized in the low . moderate and high vulnerability groups . Also results indicates that the DRASTIC method underestimate aquifer vulnerability to GODS method.
