Abstract :
Refractory raw materials are those kinds of non metallic minerals which can resist temperatures higher than 1520°C without changing of their solidity and should resist in high temperatures of furnaces in opposite of destructive factores lik rubbing, pressures, shock temperatures and chemical attacks of slags in Iron melting, steel, cement and glass industries. Refractories can be devide on the basis of their chemical composition and physical properties to three groups : acidic, basic and neutral. Acidic refractories are made of materials with siliceous and aluminosilicate chemical composition (quartz, quartzite and clays), Basic refractories are made of magnesite, chromite and dolomite and neutral refractories are made of forstrite. Chemical composition and existing amount of impurities in raw materials and calcinations conditions affected the mineral composition of refractory products. The most important factor which limits the production of dolomite refractories is its hydration tendency that the result of researches indicates that by adding 2-5% zirconia to doloma, hydration will be decreased. In the magnesite refractories with control impurities and with fixed relation between CaO/SiO2 can prevent from formation of impurity phases with low temperature melting point and adding magnesite to chromite refractories can carry up resistance in apposite shock temperatures.
