Mineralization in the metasomatic rocks from SE-Birjand

Writers : Eskandari, A.; Amini, S.
Refference : 1st Symposium of Iranian Society of Economic Geology
Publishing Year : 1389

Abstract :

There are widespread outcrops of metasomatic rocks known as listvenite (carbonate listvenite, silica-carbonate listvenite, silica listvenite, ferroan listvenite, and micaceous-hydro silicate listvenite types) and argillizite ( Cr-spine bearing), Birbirite and late quartz vein (secondary quartzite) along of fault and shear zones in the ophiolitic complexes from SEBirjand. Based on Mineralography and SEM these rocks contain pyrite, chalcopyrite altered to
covellite and goethite, Cr-spinel altered to ferrite chromite, arsenopyrite, magnetite, Hematite, galena, marcasite and native gold. Chemical analysis show anomalies for Au (23ppb to 9960ppb), Cu(80ppm to 2%), As (335 to 3500ppm), Fe (55% in the one sample), Pb (304ppm in the one sample) and Sb(135 to 209 ppm) which are indicating mineralization. However, the dispersion and heterogeneity in the mineralized samples have doubted the economic importance of mineralization and suggest detailed exploration studies.
