Abstract :
The main objective of a small scale stream sediments geochmical survey is to detetrmine the favarable areas for the further exploration.there are many one and multivariate methods for this purpose.
?In this study, 175 geochemical samples of the Khusf region, which is located in 35 km west of Birjand city,Iran, are analyzed for 20 elements to define their distribution.
To achieve the goal, R-mode factor analysis (multivariate method) and? Event probability analysis or P.N(onevariate method) are used. In R-mode factor analysis the relationship among M variables with P uncorrelated factors is investigated. To achieve the goal, first the correlation coefficient matrix computed and the eigenvalues extracted. According to the eigenvalues grater than 1 and cumulative variance more than 75 percent, three factors have been extracted and then factor-loading matrix has been rotated. With regard to the minimum factor loadings of 0.8 the main three factors (Zn, Ni, Cu, Fe, Mn), (Cr, Sc, Co, V, Ti), and (Pb, As, Sr, Cd) were resulted. At last, using the calculated factor scores, their maps have been prepared and the anomalous areas were then detected. In Event probability analysis(P.N), at the first step, the tresholds value of each interested element within the geochemical sample must be determined. In this paper it is intended to use the occurance probability of the enrichmet factor to delinate the anomalus area within the Khusf 1:50000 sheet. The results of using this technique indicates 15 anomalies. It is also shown that the obtained results is in good agreement to those acquired with? R-mode factor analysis
