Abstract :
Tertiary sedimentary rocks(shale, sandstone, conglomerate and tuff) in the northwest of birjand (Chelonak area) has been folded. Folds axes has variations in N-S, NW-SE NE-SW and W-E(Hessarsangi syncline) trends. In order to explanation of distribution of fold axes, we compared amplitude, wave length and thickness changing of folds and determined maximum and minimum frequency of those folds base on fourier analysis. Maximum frequency is observed in the folds with E-W trending axes. But the folds with NW-SE(Shavangan anticline), NE-SW(Chelonak syncline) and N-S(Taj koh syncline) trending axes have minimum frequency. All of these variations and different of frequency in folds are related to progressive deformation in the northwest of Sistan structural zone.
