Abstract :

The area Dehsalm is located in west of Nehbandan and geologically it is part of East Iran zone .The main rocks of the making regional metamorphic complex of Dehsalm include: garnet schist, garnet starolite schite, sillimanite schist, andalusite schist, mica schist and marble . Garnet is a widespread detrital mineral in quaternary alluvial placers .Almandine garnets are widely spread in low-grade metamorphic rocks. Almandine is hardest of all garnets. Considering field investigation and alluvial placers studies, depth of dendritic rivers is 25 to 200 cm and their width is 4 -8 meter .Gallochahak and Sargodar are economically considerable for garnet placers. In general; garnet grain dimensions are under 2 mm. Garnets have crystalline shape; sharp and regular angels; and a short transportation .These characteristics are of great importance in abrasive industry.
