Refference : The 25th Symposium on Geoscience;Tehran
Publishing Year : 1385

Abstract :

Faroumad area is located in the most western part of Sabzevar Ophiolite Belt and north-wesl of the Sabevar . Depositse Chromite in this area consists of several pencil- shaped, lenticular and layerd bodies, with varying dimensions, in serpentenized harzburgitic rocks. Based on textural investigation, textures present in chromitits from Faroumad can be divided into two principal groups: 1-Initial texture (massive and disseminated) 2-Secondary textures cataclastic, mylonitization and brecciation). EPMA & XRF data shows Cr2O3 content of (54.74- %61.48%).High MgO and high Cr-chromite of chromitites of Faroumad are compariable typical boninitic nature. The Cr≠vs Mg≠plot also suggest derivation from the boninitic melt. Podiform chromitites deposites at Faroumad probably formed in the mantle .sequene of that were formed in the supra-subduction zone setting (SSZ).
