Abstract :
Geoelectrical surveys using schiumberger resistivity sounding were carried out in 59 locations on 17 profile lines in BIRJAND plain, which is one of the largest catchment area in LUT desert.
Consequently, apparent resistivity maps were obtained and then were interpreted qualitatively. For quantitative interpretation and determination of subsurface layer, master curves(for two-layer earth) and modeling program were used.
As a result, alluviah iso-thichness bed rock, iso-depth maps and resistivity sections were provided. The results indicate a high resistivity in shallow subsurface, high alluviah thickness in the center of the area, shallow basement in eastern area, and finally low thickness of water-bearing formation in lower sedimentary rocks in the area.
