Abstract :
263 stream sediment samples, from Shahkun area. East Iran, were subjected to analysis using sequential Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry for the elements As, Zn, Cd, Pb, Co, Ni, Fe, Mn, Mg, Ca, CU, and Al. The samples were subjected to partial dissolution by applying 5 % nitric acid prior to ICP AES analyses. The quality control of the analyseswas conducted using QC Expert program; the measurements were set at every 5 samples for recalibration and every 6 samples for QC standards. The limits of the QC standard were defined as + 10 % of the average of the replicates. 30 samples were also analysed in order to determine the combined sampling and analytical errors.
The results of the analyses were obtained with a great confidence of the analyses and the instrumental precision. This method can be used for quality control of thr analyses when the purpose of detecting mineralization in regional geochemical exploration is concerned.
