Abstract :
The Khaf placer iron ore deposit is situated near Khaf city in the Khorasan province. XRD results show that the main constituents of head sample are Quartz, Gypsum, Calcite, Hematite, Magnetite, Clay minerals and Feldspars. The Fe-content in the head sample was about 24 %. Laboratory and pilot scale results show that it is possible to achieve a product with a Fe-content of 64 % and an overall recovery of 86 %. Main equipment necessary for achieving a production of 100000-tpy iron ore concentrate includes jaw crusher, cone crusher, sieves, conveyors and magnetic separators (medium- grade).
The aim of this research was to carry out a feasibility study of Khaf placer iron ore plant. The studies and analyses have been carried out with COMFAR software. Results of this investigation and economic analysis show that the amount of overall investment for 10 years, cost of production per ton, IRR and NPV, are 4875385$, 11$, 2 1.08% and 124227$, respectively.
