Abstract :

According to the presence of several coal mines, abundant well-preserved plant macrofossils and wood fossils, Kalat locality in Gheshlagh region, (midway Azadshahr and Shahroud) in K23 layer has been considered in this study, plant systematic of macrofossils belonging to 9 genera is described in present study. Finding some specimens as new species is highly expectable. Based on the prevailing presence of Bennetittlaes, the presence of Podozamites, Baiera muenstriana and Cladophlebis, either Sagenopteris and Scytophyllum specimens, Rhaetian age for the kalat locality and Base of Shemshak formation can be concluded. On the basis of palaeobotanical evidences, the weather conditions during establishment of sediments is thought to be warm and semi-moist and therefore middle elevation forests were dense and mixed of evergreen and decidous trees in those era.
