Abstract :
Late Cretaceous deposits in NW of the Nehbandan(Basiran and Kuh-e-Shisheh sections) predominantly, part, including limestone, marly limestone and marl in the upper part and conglomerate, sandstone and siltstone in the lower part.field studies, vertical and lateral facies change investigations and also thin sections studies indicative of sedimentation of carbonate deposits in open marine, shoal,
lagoon and beach/tidal flat sub-environments and clastic deposits in the fluvial
and deltaic environments. With repect to laboratories studies and field investigations, the mentioned deposits consist of four depositional sequences(DS) that the first sequence with type 1 sequence boundary (SB1)overlying Jurassic dep[osits and also between fourth sequence and Paleocene deposits there are type 1 sequence boundary whereas between other sequences there are type 2 sequence boundary(SB2).Identified sequences entirely correlatable with Late Cretaceous sequences and onlap cycles such as UZA4.4,UZA4.5,TA1.1(UZA4.6) and TA1.2.
