Abstract :
Kalat formation is located in east of Kopet Dagh basin. It overlies Neyzar formation and lies under the Pesteligh formation conformably and composed of Biogenic sandy limestone that makes a rocky feature and two terrigenous facies Marly shale and sand stone. Its type section in Tange Neyzar region
Has five members but in Kalat-e-Naderi section just appears two members of it. In this research three sections selected to study and measured. These are Tange Neyzar section with 280 m thickness in Mashed – Sarakhs Road and Kalat-e-Naderi sections with 270 m thickness in Mashhad – Kalat-e-Naderi Road. With gather of the results of studies and field evidences identified 16 microfacieses that its limestone microfacieses deposited in Peritidal, Lagoon, Barrier and open marine. Companion identified fossils complex in this formation with Foraminifers likes Calsitrapoides (an index fossil of Upper Maestrichtian) indicated Upper Maastrichtian age for this formation. Totally can say there was some shallowing upwards cycles in this wide and shallow ramp that makes a regressive megacycle that change to continental conditions of Pestehligh formation. Also in this study identify 21 genus and 9 spices of Ostracoda fossils.
