Abstract :
Mohammadabad playa is licated about 43 km southwest of Qayen and is classified as an inland cloed _ basin. It covers an area of 300 km. Sediments of Mohammadabad playa are divided in to the two zones as follows: from the playa margin towards the basin-center,: 1) the playa margin sand flat and wadi system and 2) Saline mud flat. One of the gomrphological features an the study area as the sand dunes which hawe been accumulated in the west margin of the playa. Hydrochemically, the most abundant cations and anions in groundywaters are , Na _ Ca _ Mg _ Ca _ So4 with little amunts of kand li . Hardness and total dissolvd solid of brines are veryhigh and ph of the water is neutral to the slightly alkaline . Wath respest to chemicrl copmostaom of brines , hydrochemistry of ground water in Mohammadabad playa is strongly affccted the latholgy of surrounding rocks and also evaporates beds within the surrounding exposed rosks.
