Refference : The 25th Symposium on Geoscience;Tehran
Publishing Year : 1385

Abstract :

The Mozduran Formation (Oxfordian-Kimmeridjian) has an extensive exposure in the Kopet- Dagh Basin in northeast Iran. Mozduran Formation in the study area, in contrast to type locality, is mainly composed of siliciclastic sediments (conglomerate, sandstone and shale) with minor amounts of carbonate rocks. Petrographic studies show that the most effective diagenetic processes on the siliciclastic rocks of the Mozduran Formation are cementation, compaction, dolomitization and calcite veins, while the effective diagenetic processes on the carbonate rocks are cementation (fibreouse, syntaxial, blucky and druzy fabrics), compaction , neomorphism, dolomitization, micritization, fracturing and formation of calcite veins. These processes operated in marin, meteoric and burial diagenetic environments in eogenetic, mesogenetic and telogenetic stages.
