Abstract :
Cakareous Nannoplankton are the most important fossils for age determination of Neogene deposits. By this means, a part of relatively thick sequence of Neogene deposits were selected at north-west oK.ashrnar city, 20 km away.
In the west of Aliabad-e-keshrnar village this sequence is constituted of four members that are marl lower sandstone-marl mari-gypsiferous marl, and upper sandstone-marl from the bottom to the top. respe!tivetv. Two meinher! of the lower part were inesured in Feb. 2000 and 68 samples were selected and treated for study.
In this way, 2 genera and 6 taxa of tamily Ceratolithaceae (Horseshoe-shaped Nannoplankton) were identified. Acording to the stratigraphic range of tlis species the interval between NN11B and NN12 of Martini standard zonation (1971) that correspond to the upper part of Messinian stage (upper Miocene) and the lower part of Zanclean stage (lower Pliocene) was determined for the upper part of the lower sandstone-marl member.
