Abstract :

The Neyzar Formation (Early Maastrichtian ) has an extensive exposure kopet--Dagh Basin in northeast Iran. It is mainly composed of carbonate as well as siliciclastic sediments (mostly fine to medium grain sandstone and shale). The lower boundary with the Abtalkh Formation is gradational and the upper boundary with Kalat Formation is erosional that is characterized by a paleosol horizon. Glauconite is important portion in Neyzar Formation. The glauconite grain size is from 0.1 mm to 0.3 mm and it is percent plenty 3 to 10 . Glauconites degree mature are different and kind of them are immature with brown colour to super mature with black green colour. The glauconite mineral are recognizable as different type such as pore filling, pellet, forarninifera chamber filling and replacement of Quartz and chert. The glauconite Neyzar Formation was deposit in a shallow open marine environment with a few amount of entrance terrigenous clastic and condition afew reduction. Glaucony plenty increase with TST and it is most plenty in MFS and decrease inside HST . This information is good indicator for interpretation of sequence stratigraphy.
