Abstract :
Nickel-Copper Patang mineralization at Iranshahr-Birjand Zone is located in 10 Km NE of Gazik. From of paint if Geometrically and lithostratigraphically, this deposit was developed in the form of veins and veinlets along fault zones within Listvenite unit. The studies rock units contain ophiolite melanges of east iran (gabbro, peridotite & harzburgite of serpentinization) andesite, andesite- basalt (upper Cretaceous) and shaly sandstone(Paleocene) and quartz microdiorite (Eocene) with N-S trend to NE-SE. Two distinct types of hydrothermal alteration and mineralization were recognized at patang: (1) hypogene and (2) supergene. Hypogene mineralization occurs principally as open-space filling and is characterized by the presence of magnetite, niccolite, jersedorphite, ullmanite, pyrite chalcopyrite, bornite, chalcocite, covelite. malachite, azurite, fe oxide and fe hydroxide. Mineralization was chiefly controlled by tectonic processes at Patang.
