Abstract :

After the effect of late kirnirian in Iran and because of regression signs and development continental sediments in lower Cretaceous (except some regions) with siliciclastic and terrigenous matters in basal part and epicontinental effects sequence stratigraphy formed. The Kopet-Dagh basin related to epicontinental part of caspian sea. In stractural-sedimentary unit of Kopet-Dagh in north-east of margin part, sediments of epicontinental shallow mann of basin Shunijeh formation (Neocomian) deposited. In type-section at Khour synclinal lower contact with Mouzdoran formation is tranzitionaly ,but upper contact with Tirgan formation is completely distinguished and conformed. It has changed to thick and medium bedded oolitic biogenic (Urgonian facies). In last lower Cretaceous (Neocomian ), massive limestones with alternation of inter-bedded shales (Urgonian facies) formed in Kopet-Dagh basin like other parts of Iran. For determination of this facies, three stratigraphic section have been measured. Two of them is located in east parts of Kopet-Dagh,near Ghorghore and gheshghe villages. The other section is in the near shotorpa village in central region of Kopet-Dagh basin. Lower boundary sequence of Cretaceous in three sections in tranzitionaly and conformably. fourteen different microfacies of carbonate units have been recognized. They reflect deposition on a carbonate ramp.
