Abstract :
The Kalat formation is one of the formations of Kopet-Dagh sedimentary basin in northeast of iran that includes sandy limestone and calcareous shale roks.this formation is put on Nayzar formation conformably and under Peste-Leig formation too. The section under study is located on Chehel-Kaman valley in the road of Mashad-Sarakhs and near Bazangan lake. Their geographical coordinates are 36,27,46 longitude and 60,27,59 latitude. From the collected samples in this section 60 slides were prepared.based on palynological study of the contents of the slides 50 genera, and? 88 species of dinoflagellate were recognized. And based on identified dinoflagellate, upper maastrichtian age is? Proposed for the studied section. Likewise, their sedimentary environment has been considered very shallow (inner neritic shore to marine environment) Specially in shale part(marginal disoxic- anoxic basin). And based on study Of spore and pollen in palynological slides, potential of hydrocarbonazation Of this formation is low.
