Abstract :

Four stratigraphic sections have been choosen and studied in the west Qayen. The various species of benthic and planktic foraminifera are represented. These are following: Mesorbitolina texana, Mesorbitolina parva texana, Palorbitolina lenticularis, Palorbitolinoides hedini, Conicorbitolina cuvillieri, Trocholina alpine, Trocholina cf. sagittaria, Trochlina molesta, Pseudocyclammina hedbergeri, Mayncina bulgrica, Pseudocyclammina lituus, Nautiloculina oolithica, Nautiloculina bronnimanni, Charentia cuvillieri, Favusella washitensis, Rotalipora cf. subticinensis, Pithonella ovails, Calcisphaeroula innominata Also determined the following various species of Calcareous algae: Salpingoporrella dinarica, Salpingoporella annulata, Salpingoporella polygonalis, Salpingoporrella katziery, Permocalculus dragastani, Rivularia lissaviensis, Marinella yogoslavica, Garwoodia flugeli, Garwoodia tommy, Acicularia elongate On the basis of representive species of benthic foraminifera and calcareous algae, the age of stratigraphic section of Gu is attributed to Neocomian – Baremian and section Gr is suggested to Baremian – Aptian. Also, on the basis of orbitolinids species and planktic foraminifera, the age of section Qo and Qm are attributed toLate Baremian -Early Cenomanian and late Aptian –Early Cenomanian respectively.
