Abstract :

The mechanism of Hercynite formation has been considered in the contact aureole of Mashhad Granite. According to textural evidence, Hercynite produced as a result of contact metamorphism. Hercynite formed in the low fugacity condition and Alm, And and Hc are formed by Staurolite breakdown. Temperature range for this reaction considered to be from 550 to 875 °C.
