Abstract :
The Shemshak Formation is well-developped in Ferizi village in Khorasan Province and mainly consists of grey shales and sandstones. In this study, the Shemshak Formation was measured and sampled for palynological investigation. A total of33 spore species allocated among16 genera and14 miospore species allocated among genera have been identified. Three biozones have been recognized : Taxon range zone Duplexisporites problematicus, Taxon range zone Ischyosporites variegatus and Taxon range zone Contignisporites problematicus. On the basis of stratigraphic distribution of palynomorphs and the occurance of Coniopteris hymenophylloides Toarcian - Bajocian age was suggested for this section of Shemshak Formation.
