Abstract :
Chromite deposits can be prospected by prospecting the associated magnetic minerals, such as magnetite, while chromite is not a magnetic mineral. In this paper chromite deposits in Sabzevar area are prospected by airborne magnetic data interpretation. The geological condition of this area, especially Sabzevar ophiolitic complex, is studied in detail and the results are compared with distribution of chromite deposits in the area .Finally a geological model for prospecting of these deposits is obtained. This prospecting model shows that all the chromite deposits occurred in serpentinized donite and harzborgite, which is a main parameter in allocation of target areas.
In order to find a geophysical model, digital filters are applied on magnetic data and magnetic anomalies are investigated. At the result surface, subsurface and deep magnetic bodies are separated. The comparison of magnetic anomaly with chromite deposits distribution, a magnetic model for prospecting of chromite deposits in this area is obtained. Finally 20 target areas are allocated for more detail exploration.
