Abstract :
The study area is located in 45 Km west of sabzevar. This area is an arid-hot region which its annual precipitation falls between 150 and 200 mm. In this area, many floods occur annually which not only cause innumerable damages to villages and downstream installations but also cause to lose a large volume of water with good quality. Where as, the groundwater level fall due to heavy pumping is one of the most important problems in the study region. The artificial recharge of aquifers using floods, not only prevents the flood damages but also can improve the quality and quantity of groundwater resources. Flood spreading project of sabzevar has been performed during two phases whit 2300 hectare in Kalate sadat and Bafreh rivers in 1997. Evaluating the groundwater levels and water quality in the flood spreading area and adjacent areas indicates that the above mentioned project has improved the quality and quantity of groundwater in the study area.
