Abstract :
Scythian sediments in Aghdarband erosional window is composed of two formations (Ghareghitan and Sefidkuh). Study of the Ghareghitan Formation shows that this unit consists of siliciclastic sediments, including conglomerates and sandestons deposited, in a fluvial depositional system, where as the Sefidkuh Formation is composed of pyroclastic - carbonate succession and has been deposited on a carbonate platform (ramp) in a forearc tectonic setting. Petrographic and geochemical studies are indicative of a magmatic arc origin for the mentioned temgenous and pyroclastics sediments. Comparison to these succession with what have been know in Iranian plate as on Scythian, it is concluded that these sediments were deposited on the southern margin of turan plate.
