Abstract :

Tirgan Formation (Barremian/Aptian) crops out in Sefid-Sang area, NE Fariman. Limestones of this formation are composed of 9 carbonate facies and 3 clastic facies that are deposited in shoreline, tidalflat, lagoon and barrier facies belts. Shoreline facies are calcareous shale, coarse siltstone and fine to very fine sandstone. Sandy intrasparudite is deposited in tidalflat condition. Lagoon facies are included sandy ooid bearing micrite, fossiliferous oomicrudite and sandy bioclastic oosparudite. Sandy intraclastic oosparite, sandy bioclastic oosparite, well-sorted oosparudite, bioclastic oosparudite and intraclastic oosparudite are deposited in barrier. Due to facies changes, a ramp type platform is interpreted for Tirgan Formation.
Sequence stratigraphy analysis of Tirgan Formation is indicated that this formation is composed of one 3 order depositional sequence. Sea level changes curve in this region is relatively correlated with global sea level curve. This indicates that more effect of allocyclic events and insignificant changes probably are resulted from authocyclic events.
