Geochemical and heavy mineral study of tin – bearing tourmaline

Writers : Monazemi Bagherzade,Reza
Refference : The 23th Symposium on Geoscience;Tehran
Publishing Year : 1383

Abstract :

Presence of granitic big outcrop in Shah kuh area has caused that just now, several research for Sn potential accomplished on rocks and around area formed from metamorphic rocks.

Among others accomplished exploration programs before this exploration stage in form of exploration design of mining material in southern khorasan was tin prospecting in 500 Km2 area and for recognition and sampling from granitic parts and Sn - bearing tourmaline quartz veins that was accomplished by exploration part of north east management and mining survey. The chemical analysis results from samples of tourmaline quartz veins in this stage indicated that Sn amount in some of veins is 800 to 4400 gr/ton (ppm).

On the basis of chemical analysis results of Sn element and W,Au,Mo,Ag and Cu elements and also, carfule field taking, was selected region with 1 Km2 area in metamorphic complex formed quartzite, schist rocks and marble parts in north of Shah kuh as anomal area and having tin potential and general exploration study.

The most of measured  tin grade is >400 ppm related to samples of withdrawaled from drilling trenchs on tourmaline quartz veins that many them were centralized in east part of exploration region with a view to thickness of veins and tin density. Important point of this researches is that Sn amount in metamorphic part of hanging wall and foot wall is noteworthyly lower tourmaline silicic veins that can been reason for that tin and its mobile elements have sorced intrusive granitic mass of Shah kuh.

The minerals of veins consist of: cryptocrystalline quartz, pyrite, chalcopyrite, pyrrhotite, ilmenite, rutile and Fe oxide- hydroxide resulted sulfide alteration.
