Abstract :

Itamir Formation consists of glauconitic sandstone and olive-green shale traceable throughout the Kopet-Dogh Range between the black shale of Sanganeh Formation below, and light colored marls of Abderaz Formation above (Stocklin, 1971). For the first time 24 samples are taken for examination from shaley part of Itamir Formation. As a result of this study 18 genera and 29 species of nannofossils are introduced. Based on the obtained nannofossils,the age of this formation in studied area is Cenomanian-Santonian.
