Abstract :
Dust in general, and mineral dust in particular can enter the human respiratory system and digestive tract and result in deleterious effects. In this respect some mineral dusts such as crystalline quartz, asbestos dust, and coal dust are very famous for having notorious effects on human health, and can cause lethal diseases such as lung cancer, digestive tract cancers, mesothelioma and black lung diseases. The miners in Iran and human populations close to mining areas are at greater risk due to inadvertent exposure to mine dust. It is recommended that immediate measures be taken to protect these vulnerable populations.
