Abstract :
Reducing shallow mineral reserves and the geologic complexity of the exploration of Mineral prospects led us to apply new methods to reduce exploration costs shows lead. Remote sensing approach as an exploration tool is important to distinguish and classify the rock units and the alteration zones. This study uses this methods to produce the alteration map for the Sarbished Gold-Copper prospect located in the Southern Khorassan, east Iran. To produce the classified image of the study area, some pre-processing and processing works, e.g. corrections, Minimum Noise Fraction (MNF), Pixel Purity Index (PPI), on the RS data should be done in advance. However, the study area was categorized into 12 different classes. Then, the classified image of the study area was extracted using the Supervised classification and Maximum likelihood methods. This resulted classified images was processed by applying different filters, e.g. Majority Analysis, Clump to get more homogenous domains. The resulted image then was evaluated in comparison with the field and petrographic data. A comprehensive correlation was observed between the data.Eventually, the alteration map of the study area was extracted properly
